I found an old parallel cable and proved the printer works with the Epson-9-Pin driver setup.įinally, I’ve networked the Dell laptop up to the Pi using an old router and I can print over the network, but it’s a lash up and I would prefer to use the cable if I can. I have an old Dell laptop with a parallel port. The other OSes give similar results to the Pi’s.Īs you can see, I don’t throw away working kit. I’ve tried the cable on a Win10 laptop, a Pi 3 & 4 with Bullseye and Buster, and a couple of laptops with Mint, Debian and Lubuntu. If I reboot the Pi while there’s a file in the print queue it prints several rows of signs. The Test Page goes to the print queue and it shows as processing but never completes. When I send a file to the printer the printer properties shows various messages. It creates an lp0 file in /dev/usb.Ĭups discovers it as usb://unknown/Printer but it doesn’t pass the print file to the printer properly. ![]() ![]() Judging by other peoples discussions, the adapter seems to have installed correctly. Has anyone managed to get one of these Qinheng CH340S USB to parallel adapters working with a Star LC-10 printer ?
